Lesley Hartman
Since 1995, Lesley has worked with adults, adolescents and groups of diverse ages, cultural, and sexual identities. She has a Masters in Clinical and Community Psychology from the UniverÂsity of Illinois and is a certified EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapist and EMDRIA-approved consultant, and a Level 2 trained IFS (Internal Family Systems) therapist, with specialized training in Somatic IFS. Lesley also has a background in Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-based-CBT, Narrative Therapy and EFT (Emotionally-Focused Therapy). She works in a theoretically integrative way that assists clients to access their own highest wisdom through deeper awareness of the messages held in their bodies, emotions, thoughts and behaviours. She has worked in varied settings including community-based agencies; overseas NGOs; hospitals; part-time private practices and a university counselling centre before entering full-time private practice in 2006. While she has provided psycho-therapy for a wide range of personal concerns over the years, currently, Lesley’s focus is on providing IFS and IFS-informed EMDR to adult clients with PTSD, attachment ruptures/trauma, anxiety disorders, OCD and somatic symptom disorders. She can provide EMDR as an adjunctive, short-term and intensive treatment over 1, 2 or 3 days for clients who would benefit from a jumpstart to their regular therapy, or to get through stuck points, and welcomes referrals from and collaborations with fellow therapists. She can offer services in Spanish as well as English. Lesley is passionate about sharing the power of EMDR and IFS with her colleagues, and as an EMDRIA approved consultant, can help EMDR therapists on their journey towards certification. She brings a trauma and attachment-informed lens to her work, and an openness to exploring intergenerational healing to better access the strengths and support of our ancestral lineages.
