Chimene Jewer is Registered Psychologist with over 16 years of clinical experience providing assessment and treatment to adults, children and adolescents. She received a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Acadia University in 2005. She has been an active member of the Association of Psychologists of Nova Scotia (APNS), serving on several Committees and was recipient of the Outstanding Early Career Psychologist award in 2015. Ms. Jewer is also a Clinical Associate at Dalhousie University in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience.
Ms. Jewer has practiced in a variety of settings including hospitals, outpatient clinics, community services, universities, counselling centres, and private practice. She also has experience working with military members and veterans. She uses a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approach to therapy, but has also been trained in other treatment approaches, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). Areas of practice include: anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), trauma/PTSD, phobias, grief/loss, chronic pain, eating disorders, body image dissatisfaction, stress and anger management, relationship difficulties, family issues, and adjustment to life transitions.
Ms. Jewer has a part-time private practice providing psychotherapy to adults. She strives to provide a warm, empathic, non-judgemental atmosphere and to develop a good therapeutic relationship with her clients. She strives to understand their issues within the context of their unique background, history, and values. And she works collaboratively with clients to develop goals and implement evidence-based treatment plans to overcome their issues and improve their well-being and quality of life
