Chimène Jewer is a Registered Psychologist with over 13 years of clinical experience. She is licensed to practice in Nova Scotia with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners Psychology (NSBEP) and New Brunswick with the College of Psychologists of New Brunswick (CPNB).
She has a breadth of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in a variety of settings, including: hospital; university; public schools; military; and private practice. Ms. Jewer completed her graduate training in Clinical Psychology at Acadia University in 2005. She was awarded a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSRHC) scholarship for her graduate research on body image and eating disorders.
Ms. Jewer has been an active member of the Association of Psychologists of Nova Scotia (APNS) and was awarded Outstanding Early Career Psychologist in 2015. Ms. Jewer was trained primarily in Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), but uses other evidence-based treatment approaches (e.g. Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), etc.) based on individual client needs.
Ms. Jewer understands that the quality of the working relationship between Psychologist and client is one of the most important factors in successful counselling/psychotherapy. Areas of practice include: depression; anxiety; PTSD/trauma; stress management; anger management; pain management; grief/loss; work and relationship problems; eating and body image issues; and other mental health issues.
