Marissa Walter has experience working in private practice, community mental health, and university settings. Marissa presently offers psychological therapy and counselling for adolescents and adults facing a range of challenges including depression, anxiety, trauma, and burnout. Other areas of work include supporting clients through difficult life transitions (for example, academic, professional, personal life adjustments, grief, and loss) and helping clients overcome challenges related to low self-esteem and perfectionism.

As a clinician with African Nova Scotian and Caribbean roots, Marissa is committed to providing supportive and sensitive care to clients of diverse cultural and racial backgrounds. She is intentional about creating a safe and supportive environment for clients to process and understand their experiences. At the core of her work, is an appreciation for the ways in which one’s history, context, and personal experience can impact their functioning. Marissa has a true appreciation for the uniqueness of each client she works with.

Marissa uses various therapeutic techniques and approaches to help clients meet their goals and rediscover meaning in their lives. She strives to offer clinical expertise in combination with a warm, empathic environment to enable individuals to work through their difficulties, grow, and thrive.
