I am a psychologist (Candidate Register) with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology and a member of the Association of Psychologists of Nova Scotia.
Since graduating with my Master of Arts degree in School Psychology from Mount Saint Vincent University, I have worked as a school psychologist in two local regional centres. As a school psychologist, I work collaboratively with families, students, and school teams to support student well-being, learning, and behaviour.
I provide comprehensive psycho-educational assessments for school-aged children and youth who are experiencing learning, attention, behavioural, and social-emotional challenges. Psycho-educational assessments provide information on a student’s strengths and challenges to inform recommendations and support for both home and school. I place a great deal of importance on providing recommendations that are both evidence-based and feasible for the student’s school and learning environment.
When working with students and their families, I emphasize building positive and supportive relationships with open lines of communication. It is important to me that families feel empowered by the results of an assessment and feel that they can use the information to advocate for their student’s needs as a learner.
