Back to school is a stressful time for both parents and children. This year COVID has made it even more so. The Nova Scotia government has provided its Back to School Plan to support students. However, Psychologists are hearing from parents with concerns about increased stress and anxiety as their children prepare for school. The following link provides some resources for families. https://psychologyfoundation.org/Content/COVID-19.aspx
For more help with mental health issues, School Psychologists work as part of the school team to provide support within the school environment and Private Practice Psychologists are available through our Find a Psychologist referral.
Please see the APNS letter to the Honourable Zach Churchill, Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development on this subject.
