Position: Psychologist (Workplace Support Program) Permanent Full-Time

Summary:

Reporting to the Clinical Director, you will be providing Tele-counselling and Video-Counselling services for LifeWorks Employee Assistance Program (EAP).

Responsibilities:

  • Assess and provide provisional diagnosis of mental health issues for individuals
  • Trauma-focused care provider
  • Create and deliver treatment plans for medium-term counselling interventions (average of 10 sessions)
  • Provide specialized counselling interventions to a diverse set of clients dealing with various personal issues that may or may not be work-related including trauma exposure, depression and anxiety and substance use issues
  • Provide excellent clinical services and embrace Morneau Shepell’s culture of continuous learning;
  • Manage the administrative requirements as dictated by Morneau Shepell’s clinical models.

Succeeding as an EAP Psychologist will require the following core qualifications and skills:

  • Doctoral degree in Psychology is mandatory;
  • In good standing with the College of Psychologists of  Nova Scotia
  • Experience and training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy required
  • We value experience and/or training in at least one of the following 4 areas:
  • EMDR
  • Prolonged Exposure
  • Cognitive Processing
  • Accelerated Resolution Therapy
  • Minimum five (5) years post-master’s counselling experience with multiple populations;
  • Ability to set short term objectives and use a solution focused approach;
  • Ability to clinically manage high-risk cases, including clients who are a threat to self or others;
  • Excellent time-management skills with the ability to handle a large volume of clients;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Must be flexible to work days and evening shifts;
  • Basic knowledge of computer systems is an asset.
