Dr. Scott Bishop is a psychologist, psychoanalyst, and educator with over 30 years of experience in mental health care. Known for his compassion and expertise, he helps individuals learn, grow, and achieve meaningful change.
He earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Dalhousie University and completed post-graduate psychoanalytic training at the Toronto Institute for Contemporary Psychoanalysis. He is a registered psychologist in Nova Scotia and Ontario, a Clinical Associate Professor of Psychology at Dalhousie University, and a Supervising Analyst at the Toronto Institute for Contemporary Psychoanalysis.

Dr. Bishop has held leadership roles in university-affiliated hospitals, including the University Health Network, the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, and Ontario Shores Hospital, and has served as Adjunct Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto for 25 years. He has taught extensively in psychoanalytic and psychotherapy training programs across Canada.

He specializes in trauma, complex PTSD, dissociative disorders, severe personality disorders, anxiety, mood disorders, addictions, phobias, relationship issues, and stress-related conditions. His practice integrates psychodynamic, interpersonal, cognitive-behavioural, and mindfulness-based therapies.

Recently returned to Nova Scotia, Dr. Bishop brings his extensive experience to Halifax, providing evidence-based, compassionate care to individuals across a wide range of psychological challenges.
