Dr. Sharon Clark
Dr. Sharon Clark is a registered clinical psychologist with over 22 years of experience working with children, teens, and families. Her practice is rooted in evidence-based approaches, with a particular focus on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and attachment-informed care. Dr. Clark is passionate about understanding each client’s unique needs and works collaboratively to foster meaningful, lasting change.
Drawing from her extensive background at IWK Health’s Mental Health and Addictions program, Dr. Clark has worked across inpatient, intensive, and community outpatient teams. She has significant experience helping clients manage different mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, challenges managing emotions, and working with families to develop more positive ways of interacting with each other. Dr. Clark is committed to making mental health care accessible and welcoming, especially for those who may feel uncertain about starting therapy. Her warm, approachable style helps clients and families feel at ease when they start their therapeutic journey.
In her practice, Dr. Clark emphasizes shared decision-making and solution-focused strategies. She uses visual and hands-on methods to help clients and families map out patterns and explore new options together. Progress is reviewed regularly to ensure care remains responsible and effective. Dr. Clark believes in experimenting with strategies that fit each client’s life, encouraging curiosity and growth along the way.
Dr. Clark holds degrees in Clinical Psychology: a Master’s degree from Acadia University and a PhD from Dalhousie University. After many years in clinical leadership at IWK, she now welcomes clients to her private practice in Dartmouth.
