James Trites
| Prior to becoming a Psychologist (Can Reg) in 2012, Jim spent many years in the corporate/working world and as an entrepreneur/business owner.
In 2008 he paused his working life to return to school; completing academic undergraduate work in Psychology and Sociology at Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, and then moving on to Boston, MA where he graduated from Northeastern University with a Masters of Science degree in Counselling Psychology as well as with a certificate in Mediation and Dispute Resolution from Harvard Law School. Jim’s background allows him to bring a wide variety of life experience to the counseling room in a calming and down-to-earth way. Using evidence-based therapy techniques, he helps those with issues, such as anxiety, depression, sadness, grief, trauma, as well as other concerns that cause people distress. Jim works with men and women and has additional training in the area of counseling adolescent and adult males. He also helps couples overcome barriers, using his training and experience in mediation and dispute resolution. Jim’s goal is to offer his clients a safe, trusting, and non-judgmental space in which to emote and tell their stories. He works to give clients the attention and validation that they all deserve; things that many have difficulty finding in their day-to-day lives. He encourages his clients to examine their deeper inner beliefs, and strengths, to help them discover their full human potential. For his clients, results can be personal growth and empowerment, improved emotional and physical health, and better relationships. |
