Dartmouth Psychological Services is seeking Registered (or Candidate Register) Psychologists or Registered Social Worker – Clinical Specialists to join our team on a part-time basis with the potential to grow to full-time. Hours are flexible – daytime, evening, and weekend hours are available, as is the option to provide services in-person and virtually (through the Jane platform). We offer associates an opportunity to grow their practice by providing new referrals, ongoing promotion/advertising, comprehensive administrative and team support, as well as opportunities to grow professionally. Compensation is fair and competitive.

The chosen applicant will be a Registered Psychologist (or Candidate Register) at the Master’s or Doctoral level, or a Registered Social Worker – Clinical Specialist. They will be ethically minded, client focused and experienced in providing evidence-based counselling to children and adolescents, and/or adults (can include couples and families) struggling with a range of issues.

DPS is a team of collaborative and caring practitioners who have been providing evidence-based mental health services to children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families in the HRM for over 20 years (previously Jacqueline Milner-Clerk & Associates). We also host the Breathe Mindfulness Centre within our clinic, which specializes in offering mindfulness and compassion-based classes, workshops, and programs. We are conveniently located in Queen Square downtown Dartmouth with beautiful harbour views, close to the Alderney ferry terminal and directly on a Halifax Transit route. Associate Psychologist with Dr Hubley Carruthers & Associates

Part-Time or Full-Time Permanent Status starting January 2026

Dr. Hubley Carruthers & Associates Counselling & Psychological Services is seeking an energetic
team player for the position of Associate Psychologist. This position will begin in January 2026, on
a part-time or full-time basis.

We are seeking an experienced Associate Psychologist trained to work with couples and families.
The ideal candidate will have advanced training in emotion-focused couples therapy, and/or CBT
couples therapy (i.e., Gottman model), among other therapy training (i.e., ACT, DBT). Dr. Hubley
Carruthers is looking for the right fit to take over her wait-listed couples and family therapy clients,
as well as to work with individual clients of the Practice.

Associate Psychologists under Dr. Hubley Carruthers’ direction will perform duties, including, but
not limited to, the following:
➢ Providing evidence-based couples and family therapy to a diverse client base experiencing a
wide range of issues such as communication difficulties, problems with problem solving and
conflict resolution, co-parenting challenges, grief and loss, trauma, infidelity, life transitions,
and mental health challenges.
➢ Conducting comprehensive assessments to develop individualized treatment plans.
➢ Utilizing a variety of therapeutic modalities and techniques appropriate for individuals,
couples and family systems including Emotion-Focused Couples and Family Therapy (EFCT
and EFFT), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-based CBT Therapy, SolutionFocused Therapy.
➢ Maintaining accurate and timely client records including intake forms, progress notes,
treatment summaries, in accordance with standards set by the Nova Scotia Board of
Examiners in Psychology (NSRP).
➢ Collaborating and coordinating care with other healthcare providers including
Psychiatrists, Primary Care Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Physiotherapists, Virtual Care
Medical Providers, Occupational Therapists, Rehabilitation Consultants, etc.
➢ Adhering to all ethical guidelines and standards of practice set forth by the Nova Scotia
Board of Examiners in Psychology.
➢ Participating in team meetings and case consultations monthly.
➢ Participating in case consultations with the Practice Leader and Associate Psychologist
colleagues within the Practice, as required.
➢ Attending on-going professional development and supervision, as required.

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
➢ Post-secondary education in Clinical or Counselling Psychology at the Master’s or Doctoral
level.
➢ Demonstrated experience in providing couples and family therapy and/or the willingness to
be mentored in this domain.
➢ Registration with the Nova Scotia Regulator of Psychology (NSRP) as a fully
registered or candidate registered psychologist.
➢ Prior experience (and commendable references) in assessment and therapy for individuals.
➢ Ability to work independently and as part of a tight-knit and supportive team of colleagues.
➢ Strong computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and JANE Practice
Management Software (considered an asset, although not required);
➢ Familiarity with video call platforms, such as Zoom.
➢ The ability to manage emergency situations and follow proper professional, ethical and
administrative procedures.
➢ The ability to work independently and collaboratively under pressure.
➢ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – both written and oral.
➢ The ability to work with confidential information discreetly and professionally.
➢ Outstanding organizational and time management skills.
➢ Vulnerable sector check.
