Madeleine Stobbe is a licensed Psychologist (Candidate Register). She holds a Bachelor of Science degree with Honours in Psychology from Saint Mary’s University and a Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology from McGill University. She has worked in a variety of settings including university counselling services, the education system, public health, and community-based organizations.
Madeleine’s therapy practice involves working with adolescents (12+), adults, and couples. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, anxiety, depression, perinatal mood disorders and postpartum depression, issues related to sexual orientation and gender identity, school/workplace stress, self-esteem, relationship difficulties, trauma, and grief.
Using a trauma informed and integrative approach, Madeleine draws from therapeutic models including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), mindfulness-based therapies, and solution-focused approaches. When working with couples she uses Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT) to understand unhelpful patterns that are creating dysfunction in the relationship and works toward improving a sense of connection and intimacy. Madeleine believes that the therapeutic relationship is the most important factor in facilitating meaningful and lasting change. She makes every effort to provide a safe and comfortable space in which clients can explore and work through the unique issues they bring to therapy.
