By fusing a bio-psycho-social-spiritual treatment model with medically managed therapies, our intensive outpatient programs provide rapid access, rapid resolution, and rapid return to work and healthy lifestyle programs for anxiety, depression, addiction, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), trauma, and chronic pain. We now have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Psychologist to join our Halifax clinic.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Psychologist to join our innovative, purpose-driven, and multi-disciplinary clinical team in our brand-new clinic in Halifax, Nova Scotia. This will be The Newly Institute’s 5th clinic in Canada and will be opening in September 2024. We are looking for innovative people to be leaders for our Halifax clinic!

WHAT YOU WILL DO 
Reporting to the Manager of Clinical Services, Halifax, you will assess, diagnose, and provide treatment for individuals experiencing complex mental health conditions. Following our rotational therapist model, you will work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to achieve positive client outcomes, while sharing our core values of communication, community, excellence, health, and innovation.
Client-Centered Care Accountabilities
Provide individual trauma therapy utilizing Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and/or Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART).
Conduct efficient and effective clinical client assessments (mental health history, risk assessment, trauma, and addictions).
Facilitate psychoeducation groups (based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), sleep education, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills, mindfulness, and family support).
Assist in grounding and reflection post psychopharmacological treatment.
Complete trauma timelines and discharge summaries.
Demonstrate expertise and skills to support clients presenting with:
Post-traumatic stress disorder
Psychological injury
Addiction and substance use
Depression
Anxiety
Moral Injury
Personality Disorders
Other mental health diagnoses
Team Collaboration Accountabilities
Participate in weekly case consultations and complex case discussions, with the interdisciplinary team.
Work collaboratively with other therapists within a rotating therapist model.
Communicate with other clinicians on a regular basis about issues related to client care.
Attend relevant clinical meetings, including but not limited to WCB (Return to Work), Intensive Outpatient Program, and other programs.
Engage in professional consults and supervision.
Administrative Accountabilities
Ensure same-day completion of session notes.
Complete assessment reports in a timely manner.
Provide reporting to third-parties and community referral sources.
Community Advocacy
Participate in mental health promotion activities and contribute to establishing and maintaining mental health and addictions community resources.

WHAT YOU BRING
Experience
A minimum of 2 years of experience in mental health assessment/triage and treatment is required.
Experience using evidence-based trauma therapy, specifically EMDR or ART is an asset.
Experience with individual, group, and family counselling is an asset.
Equivalencies of experience may be considered.
Education 
A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Counselling Psychology or similar program is required.
Professional training certificates in EMDR and/or ART are significant assets.
Eligibility or registration with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology.
Technical Competences
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, and Teams is required. Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems is preferred.
Background Check
