Dr. Bonnie McNeill works with children, adolescents, and young adults with a broad range of mental health concerns. She uses evidence-based treatment approaches, primarily cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), while incorporating strategies from motivational interviewing and dialectical behavioural approaches. Virtual (telepsychology) appointments are also available.
Dr. McNeill has significant experience treating a variety of mental health issues, including difficulties with anxiety, mood (e.g., depression, bipolar disorder), coping with stress, low self-esteem, difficulty managing emotions, suicidal thoughts, behavioural concerns, psychosis, trichotillomania, skin-picking disorders, and body dysmorphic disorder. Dr. McNeill has a particular specialty and interest in the treatment of anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD).
Dr. McNeill completed her undergraduate Psychology studies at Dalhousie University and received her Masters and PhD in Clinical Psychology from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. She completed her clinical residency at the IWK Health Centre in Halifax. Dr. McNeill worked for 9 years at the IWK Health Centre on the inpatient mental health unit (Garron Centre for Child and Adolescent Mental Health) and for several years with the IWK OCD Specific Care Clinic. Dr. McNeill is also an Adjunct Clinical Associate at Dalhousie University.
