Dr. Carolyn Wilkes

I provide a warm, safe, comfortable, and inclusive private practice in a country setting just outside Kentville/New Minas. I specialize in clinical psychology and provide assessment and treatment for most DSM-V diagnoses, such as trauma related disorders; complex PTSD; mood disorders; anxiety disorders, including panic; OCD; personality; and relationship as well as interpersonal issues; with an overall specialization in trauma and mood disorders. I use an integrated therapeutic approach and manualized treatments when necessary.  The most common psychotherapeutic approaches I use include CPT (Cognitive Processing Therapy), as well as an integration of (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Psychodynamic, DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), and Narrative.

I enjoy working with all age and racial groups, and I work with a variety of treatment groups. I am a BlueCross and PCVRS provider, as well as a provider for Health Canada’s IRS program and welcome Indigenous clients.  Some of the groups I work with include first responders, CAF members and veterans, RCMP, assault survivors, residential school survivors, and those with a history of complex trauma and/or child abuse.
