Jacqueline has been working in private practice in the HRM for over 27 years and has extensive experience providing counselling and other psychological services to children, adolescents and adults. Currently Jacqueline provides psychological counselling to adults and couples experiencing a wide range of problems and concerns.
Her empathic treatment approach is based on sound psychological principles and research and is primarily Cognitive-Behavioural and Mindfulness-Based in nature, drawing on other psychological approaches (e.g., Emotion Focused, ACT, Humanistic, etc.) when relevant. Her strength lies in her ability to authentically connect and put clients at ease, facilitating the process of which healthy change can occur.
In light of the growing supportive research regarding the therapeutic benefits of mindfulness and self-compassion on emotional and mental well-being, Jacqueline has sought to integrate these principles and practices within her current psychology practice. She has had the privilege of undergoing extensive personal and professional study with some of the originators of western mindfulness-based therapies and currently holds certification in the areas of Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy and Mindful Self-Compassion. Her training and passion in the areas of mindfulness and self-compassion have led her to open Breathe Mindfulness Centre, allowing her to further offer workshops and programs in these areas to other professionals, workplaces and the public.
