Noemie Bergeron-Germain

Noémie (pronounced No-Emmy) is a clinical psychologist (candidate register) of Haitian ancestry. She received her Bachelor of Science from Mount Saint Vincent University and her Master of Science from Acadia University. Throughout her studies, Noémie has been involved in research projects that focus on the psychological experiences of racialized people and barriers to accessing culturally appropriate mental health services. More recently, Noémie has become involved in Impact of Race and Culture  Assessments through the African Nova Scotian Justice Institute.

Clinically, Noémie has experience providing psychological services for the treatment of depression, anxiety, specific phobia, and obsessive-compulsive disorders, as well as for interpersonal difficulties and the management of ADHD symptoms in adults. She also has experience providing learning, ADHD, and general psychological functioning assessments.

Noémie firmly believes that systemic factors have a strong influence on mental health and on general functioning, and that culturally sensitive approaches to assessment and therapy are crucial. As such, she integrates Afrocentric principles into her practice of psychology, which is grounded in cognitive-behavioural and mindfulness-based approaches. Noémie provides clinical services in both English and French.
