Patricia MacDonald received her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from McGill University and currently works full-time at True North Psychological Services as a registered psychologist and team lead. She believes strongly in the power of healing amongst the herd; therefore, she co-facilitates group therapy programs for Veterans, first responders, and police, at Landing Strong and the Veterans Transition Network (VTN).

Patricia’s current clinical interests and experience include treating adults experiencing difficulties with; anxiety disorders (panic, social, specific, and generalized anxiety disorder), depression, trauma (sexual, physical, psychological, developmental, and emotional), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), emotion regulation, and interpersonal difficulties. Patricia enjoys working with adult children of alcoholics (ACOA) and is passionate about helping the helpers in working with military, RCMP (police), and first responders, including assessments and treatment. She has experience and specialized training in best practices for working with the above-mentioned population in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

In working with individuals, Patricia values a collaborative approach built on openness and trust where people can be their authentic self; establishing a secure and stable environment is important to her. She relies on empirically validated interventions such as Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), CPT, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), while also integrating other interventions based on the client’s individual needs.
