Stephany MacDow has been working as a psychologist for 25 years and has been fully registered in Nova Scotia since 2005. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree (Honours in Psychology) from Acadia University and a Master of Arts Degree in School and Child Clinical Psychology from The Ontario Institute in Studies in Education at The University of Toronto. She began her career working for the Tri-County School Board as a school psychologist, where she completed psychoeducational assessments with students in the Digby, Yarmouth, Shelburne areas. In 2002, she was hired by the Nova Scotia Health Authority as a clinical psychologist on the child and adolescent team. She worked at Digby Mental Health from 2002 to 2024. She also started a private practice in 2017 and currently provides virtual services to children, youth and families across Nova Scotia.
She has specialized training in Family-Based Treatment (FBT) for eating disorders and many years of experience in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of various mental health issues, including individual and/or family therapy for mood disorders; anxiety; parental separation/divorce; attentional and behavioural difficulties; loss and grief; stress and coping, etc. She has also facilitated various groups. She tends to take an eclectic approach to treatment that is client-centered and evidence-based.
