Marilyn Roberts

I obtained my Master of Science degree in Clinical Psychology in 2001 from Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. Since then, I have been working with children, youth, young adults, and families treating a variety of mental health difficulties using evidence-based therapy approaches. I have been working in the private practice sector since April 2010. Prior to this I worked for nine years in the public system with IWK Community Mental Health.

In collaboration with clients, I individualize their treatment for their presenting life challenges with the goal of improving their functioning and life satisfaction. I have an extensive background in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and for the past several years have been expanding and integrating mindfulness and acceptance into my clinical practice, which I do in a developmentally and culturally sensitive manner. In therapy, clients learn how to have their difficult emotions have less of an impact on them. I also collaborate with other professionals, schools, and community agencies to provide comprehensive treatment plans.
