Dr. Anderson’s journey began at Mount Saint Vincent University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science (Hons). He then completed his doctoral training in Clinical Psychology at Dalhousie University. He is now a candidate registered psychologist with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology.
During his training, Dr. Anderson gained experience working in both community and hospital settings, where he honed his skills in providing evidence-based treatments and assessment. Dr. Anderson completed his residency at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Center, a tertiary inpatient mental health hospital, and Brockville Secure Treatment Unit, a medium-maximum security forensic mental health center.
While he is trained to work with clients who have a range of problems, he specializes in helping those with trauma, depression, anxiety, OCD, schizophrenia, phobias, and substance use disorders. Dr. Anderson has had training and experience in working with those with severe and persistent mental illness, and complex symptomatology.
Dr. Anderson’s primary therapeutic approach is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), but he also incorporates elements of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) when appropriate. He works with adults and adolescents (16 years and older) in a client-centered, trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and humanistic manner.
